ABOUT US

Cpt. Strawless is an environmental campaign started by Bailey Agnew and Sam Burnside in 2018. We are a local based organisation that has taken aim on the pressing issues of single use plastics in today's society, mainly looking at the use of plastic straws in hospitality venues. Our main focus with Cpt. Strawless is to take a different approach on the idea of reducing single use plastic straws to zero, kick-starting the campaign in the local Byron Bay area, while also convincing people that even having a replacement straw made from an alternative material isn't needed as in the end it is still creating some form of waste. We aim to be an approachable and relatable brand and provide campaigns in which will assist in developing an environmentally sustainable future.

Our first campaign and place of origin Byron Bay, is 'known' for being a sleepy beach town that is all about the environment, but we still see today that bars, clubs, pubs and cafe's still use plastic straws, or straws of some variation. Our campaign here in Byron is to convince people and venues to change their ideas and views on the use of straws through the use of our approachable brand and logo. Here in Byron we have taken specific aim at the hospitality venues as they are still the biggest contributors of plastic and other types of straws. Although some places have started to reduce their use of straws, we saw an opportunity to make a difference in an area were something really needs to be done due to the amount of waste and damage plastic straws create. So our back yard and home in Byron Bay is the perfect spot for us to make a change and create a straw-less, plastic free future.
